See an indicative UK EGR valve replacement cost and the faults that can look like an EGR problem before a new valve is fitted.
£226–£506
AutoAid reference: parts £70–£350, around 2 labour hours, using the built-in UK labour reference of £78/hour.
This is a broad sense-check, not a live quote. Vehicle or motorcycle specification, location, parts quality, corrosion and access can materially change the total.
The exhaust gas recirculation system reduces certain emissions by routing controlled exhaust gas back into the engine. Carbon build-up, valve faults, coolers, sensors and control issues can all affect the system.
Depending on the fault and vehicle, diagnosis may show a sticking valve, blocked passage, electrical control problem or related air-flow issue. Cleaning is suitable in some situations but will not fix an electrical or mechanically damaged valve.
Loss of power, rough running, smoke, poor fuel economy and engine-management warnings can occur with EGR faults, but DPF, boost, air-flow and fuelling problems can create similar symptoms.
Valve design and access vary widely. Some EGR assemblies include coolers or sit in difficult locations, which increases both parts and labour costs.
