What does P0101 mean?

P0101 means the measured mass airflow is outside the range or relationship the ECU expects for the current engine operating conditions. It is a plausibility code, so the sensor itself is only one possible cause.

Can a dirty MAF cause the code?

Contamination can alter sensor response, but only use a cleaning method approved for the sensor type. Physical damage or electrical faults will not be repaired by cleaning, and touching delicate sensing elements can cause further damage.

What should be inspected first?

Check the air filter, intake ducting, clamps and connectors. Live airflow readings at idle and under load can then be compared with vehicle-specific expectations alongside boost, pressure and EGR data.

Can P0101 cause fuelling codes?
